Hose Maintenance Programmes

AIM

  • To provide a cost effective replacement and comprehensive maintenance service for all size of companies who use Hydraulic Hoses.
  • To ensure a safer working environment and to minimize the effects of pollution from Hydraulic Oil spillages.

WHY?

  • Reduces cost of Hose Replacement by up to 50%
  • Reduction in costly downtime of Equipment
  • Reduces the risk of serious injuries
  • Compliance with British Standards 5244 : 1986
  • Potential Savings on Insurance Assessments
  • Provides Constant Condition Monitoring of Hoses

How Does It Work?

Normally hoses are replaced if and when they burst causing hazardous, often hot, hydraulic oil to spray everywhere at high pressure.

Usually this can cause extreme inconvenience, costly downtime and even serious injury.

It is the company's responsibility to provide a safe working environment within your workplace and British standards are available as a guideline for a good workplace

British Standards 5244 clearly state:

Hose fitted to stored equipment:

AGE

Recommendations

Up to 3 years

Use without further testing

3 to 5 years

Use only after subjecting each assembly to pressure test of 1.5 x design working pressure and representative samples to a burst pressure test

Over 5 years

Scrap

With this in mind, our programme can locate all hoses on a particular machine, item of plant or department.

The hoses would be recorded with location, type of hose, fittings, length etc.

They will then be permanently tagged with a barcode and human readable number which will be unique to that hose.

Once tagged the hose can then be monitored throughout its life and replaced before failure.

Barcodes (hose maintenance)

The tag is made from robust but highly flexible material held onto the hose by high tensile stainless steel fixings. This does not allow diameter restriction or kinking, ensuring that the hose is fully operational.

The hose tag number is logged with full details of the hose in the database. In the event of a failure, with its unique number, the hose can be replaced without delay.

A new hose can be made up with ease and all the details recorded. It can be pre-made, made on site, or replacements can be shipped to logistical position.

This is a simple and effective concept that can be used virtually everywhere.

Inspections

-Optional Maintenance Programme

Regular inspections can be carried out to prevent failure and the barcode reader makes this a simple task to administer.

Often hoses may be subject to unusual hazards such as temperature, humidity, ozone concentration, harsh environments, knocks etc. We can assess the state of any hoses and implement an inspection programme to assess deterioration and wear and tear at specific intervals. This will greatly reduce the likelihood of unnecessary downtime costs and potential serious injury.

In the event of incident occurring a fully comprehensive record can be produced detailing logged history. This will prove your company's commitment to improving safety and environmental issues.

Overview

This innovative programme will have a huge overall impact on any business large or small.

  • Keeping your equipment and machinery running efficiently and smoothly
  • Huge savings - replacement, downtime and insurance
  • Helps toward ensuring your employees return home from work in the same condition they arrived in
  • Reduce hazardous spillages into the environment
